Crossword CreationDirections: You should now be familiar with several aspects of Microsoft Publisher. You will
be given an opportunity to review these skills in completing this next classroom
participation assignment. All work is to be completed independently.
You must create a crossword puzzle on a school related subject. Brainstorm a list of 30 words unless you already have a list (i.e. your computer terms). The puzzle should include at least 15
clues across and 15 clues down. All words must be attached to the main grid and may not go backwards or diagonally. Words may not be stacked or placed next to one another. ![]() You must create your grid on graph paper (10% of project grade) to make sure that the
words align on your crossword correctly. Leave yourself a 2 box
margin around the edge of the graph paper to ensure that the puzzle will not be clipped.
You must then create your grid in Microsoft Publisher. Your grid should be made from ¼ inch boxes that you may copy and paste together.
You must then place numbers in text boxes in the upper corner of the crossword boxes (as
shown above) that agree with your clues. Only one number may be placed in a box. (You may not have 5 across in the same box as 6 down).
You should use a separate Microsoft Word document for your clues.
As a final note, please add some clipart to your completed puzzle (10% of project
grade). All crosswords will be collected and distributed to a fellow classmate with a similar
interest. All crosswords must be complete and correct. You will be required to include a key of answers (10% of project grade) for at least your puzzle grid (i.e. 2 grids - one with
answers).
You will receive credit based on your ability to follow directions, fully complete the assignment, cooperation with Mr. Molino and your fellow classmates, and signing your name to a completed crossword puzzle offered by a fellow classmate. If you finish this assignment prior to your classmates, you may use other programs (no games) until they have received a reasonable amount of time to complete their assignment. You may bring other schoolwork to complete during this time as well. Additional instructions may follow. |
